Walk Report from Allostock - Thursday 16th February [Leader - Sheelagh Warner] "A walk that went to nowhere in particular but which crossed over the motoway four times and passed by several interesting old houses. One of the twelve walkers was a new member whose programme had only arrived the day before, but she decided to come on this and enjoyed the walk!"

Walk Report from Delamere - Tuesday 14th February [Leader - Gavin Miller] "20 of us covered the 2nd stage of The Sandstone Trail on a mainly cloudy but dry and, by recent standards, mild day. From Delamere station we took part of the Delamere Way by the side of Blakemere Moss to pick up the Trail. We made a short diversion up Pale Heights to the masts before dropping down to Nettlefold Wood. In Primrosehill Wood we made another short diversion to Urchins Kitchen. Due to the recent thaw, we had our share of glaur as we followed lanes and fields, with distant views of Beeston Castle, to Whartons Lock on the Shropshire Union Canal. We left the Trail here and followed the canal back to Beeston Market where we found the Beeston Castle Hotel inhospitably closed. Undaunted by this setback, most of us then caught the bus back to Chester where we found refreshment and trains and buses home."

Walk Report from Danebridge - Tuesday 14th February [Leader - Mary Bullimore] "There were 11 of us at the start and despite a (little) mud and some unexpected icy paths all of us made it to the end. The route was a figure of 8 hinging on Danebridge. The first loop traversed Wincle Minn, then dropped and rose again to view the Bullstones, a stone-age burial site. Then we dropped to Danebridge and climbed yet again to admire a Standing stone, the Hanging Stone, and the dark and dismal depths of Luds Church." To read Mary's Notes for the walk click here
